Female characterization has been a subject of debate in modern novels. We can analyze their various aspects particularly the study of their inner mind. It is a complex process and we see different reactions at different times. The disharmony between their conscious and sub conscious creates a lot of moral dilemmas in their lives. If we look back at English novels particularly “The Mill on the Floss” by George Eliot, we can trace psychological treatment with her heroine Maggie. This trend shifted to Urdu novels too. Now there are a list of novels dealing with the issue of female psychological problems. She is confronted with a situation where she has to select between the two choices. On one side there is her desire and on the other hand there is a duty. The duty of parents, the duty of society. She sometimes sacrifices her life even for so called traditions of our forefathers. Her whole life passes in solving those conflicts which she did not created. She has to pay the price for the sins of her brother and even her father. So, all these situations have been portrayed in the present day novels.
