Contemporary Social Problems and Their Solutions in the Light of Prophetic Parables in Hadith

Abstract

Contemporary societies face numerous social challenges, including the weakening of family relationships, moral decline, intolerance, social fragmentation, irresponsibility, and the misuse of social media. These issues require effective ethical and educational approaches grounded in enduring principles of human welfare and social responsibility. This study examines contemporary social problems and explores their possible solutions in the light of Amthāl al-Hadith (Prophetic parables in Hadith), with particular emphasis on the Hadith collections known as Kutub al-Sittah (the Six Authentic and Recognized Hadith Books). The study employs a qualitative, descriptive, and analytical methodology to examine selected Prophetic parables, their meanings, and their relevance to present-day social realities. It investigates how these parables communicate ethical values, promote mutual cooperation, strengthen social relationships, encourage responsible conduct, and guide individuals towards tolerance, compassion, and collective responsibility. Particular attention is given to the educational, familial, moral, and social dimensions of Prophetic guidance. The study argues that the illustrative and persuasive nature of Prophetic parables makes them an effective means of communicating complex ethical and social principles in an accessible and practical manner. It further highlights the importance of gradual reform, wisdom, and effective communication in addressing contemporary social challenges. The findings suggest that the practical application of Prophetic teachings can contribute to moral development, social harmony, and the strengthening of collective responsibility. The study recommends integrating selected Prophetic parables into educational curricula, family training, community initiatives, and responsible digital communication to promote a more ethical, peaceful, and cohesive society.
