Abstract

The Qur'an, as the final divine revelation, employs various linguistic and rhetorical devices to emphasize specific truths, among which Divine Oaths (Ayman al-Qur'an) hold a paramount position. This research study investigates the theological and rhetorical significance of the oaths taken by Allah—the Almighty—concerning the persona, life, and attributes of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. By analyzing key Quranic passages, such as those in Surah al-Hijr (La’amruk), Surah al-Balad, and Surah al-Duha, this paper explores how these divine attestations serve as a unique mechanism for the Exaltation of his Mention (Raf’at al-Dhikr).The study adopts an analytical and exegetical approach to demonstrate that while Allah often swears by His creation to highlight its grandeur, His oaths regarding the Prophet’s ﷺ life and city signify a peerless level of sanctity and proximity in the divine sight. Furthermore, the research examines the nexus between these oaths and the defense of the Prophet’s ﷺ character against contemporary detractors. The findings suggest that Divine Oaths are not merely linguistic ornaments but are foundational proofs of the Prophet’s ﷺ ontological and spiritual superiority, reinforcing the Quranic declaration: "And We raised high for you your mention" (Qur'an 94:4). This study contributes to the field of Quranic Sciences by providing a structured understanding of how the Creator Himself testifies to the glory of His Final Messenger ﷺ.
