Allah has bestowed countless blessings upon humanity, and among these are the fruits of the earth, which serve as essential sources of nourishment. In Islamic tradition, fruits are not only seen as a means of sustenance but also a valuable source of income. Pakistan, with its diverse agricultural landscape, is home to a wide variety of fruits, such as mangoes, guavas, apples, peaches, apricots, plums, pears, grapes, oranges, and chico. In addition, dry fruits like dates, almonds, walnuts, and chalghoza (pine nuts) are significant to the local economy. The sale and purchase of these fruits, particularly in their seasonal cycles, hold economic importance. For instance, certain varieties of apples, such as Gajja and Kulu, ripen at different times, affecting the market trade. Similarly, the plum varieties follow a similar pattern. Chalghoza, harvested predominantly in the mountainous regions of Waziristan and the Sulaiman Range, is another key product of trade, with its harvesting area extending over 200 km. This paper delves into the Shari’ah rulings regarding the sale and purchase of fruits, with a particular focus on chalghoza. It presents a detailed analysis of Maulana Noor Muhammad Shaheed’s (RA) jurisprudential stance on these matters. By exploring Islamic legal perspectives, the study aims to offer a clear understanding of the permissible practices in fruit trade and the specific guidelines regarding chalghoza in light of Islamic teachings.
